Understanding the Bagua Map in Feng Shui is like unlocking the blueprint of energy within your living spaces—a roadmap that guides you towards creating an environment that promotes balance, harmony, and the realization of your life’s aspirations. Derived from ancient Chinese philosophy, the Bagua Map is a powerful tool that divides your home into nine distinct areas, each corresponding to essential aspects of your life, such as wealth, health, relationships, and career. By comprehending the Bagua Map’s principles and learning how to apply them to your living spaces, you embark on a transformative journey towards harnessing the positive energies that surround you.
What is the Bagua Map?
The Bagua Map is a nine section grid based on the compass sections (N, NW, W, SW, S, SE, E, NE). Each section has an element, a color and a life aspiration associated with it.
The Bagua Map gives you specific ways to enhance the energy of the life areas that you are looking to bring balance to or manifest new opportunities in. It empowers you to shape your surroundings in alignment with your desires and dreams.
How to Use the Bagua Map
To effectively use the Bagua Map in Feng Shui, it’s essential to grasp its practical applications and how this ancient tool can be a transformative guide for arranging your living spaces.
Step 1: Draw your floor plan
You can hand draw it on a piece of paper or use one of the many free floor plan creation tools available. It doesn’t need to be exact to use the Intentional Bagua Map, however, it needs to be a fairly accurate representation.
Step 2: Divide your floor plan into nine sections
Your floor plan should now have nine boxes over top of it (like the grid below Step 4)
Step 3: Find the direction your front door faces
Stand at your front door facing out (with your back to your home). Use the compass app on your phone (or a real compass if you have one!) to find out what direction you are facing.
Step 4: Apply the directions to your floor plan
In the box that overlaps your front door area on your floor plan, write the direction your front door faces. Continue around the compass directions, writing each direction in the boxes on your floor plan. Note that the center box has no compass direction – it is simply Center.
Congratulations! You now have your divided floor plan with the Bagua Map of your home.
